WHAT IS A SOCIAL BUSINESS VISIT PASS ?

A Visit Pass (Business) is issued to

  • owner and company representative entering Malaysia for the purpose of attending company meeting, seminar, inspection of company's account or to ensure the smooth running of the company
  • investor or businessman entering Malaysia for the purpose of looking at business opportunities and investment potential
  • foreign representative of company entering Malaysia for the purpose of introducing their goods that are to be manufactured in Malaysia, but not engaging in direct selling or distribution
  • property owner entering Malaysia for the purpose of negotiation, selling and leasing of properties
  • foreign reporters from mass media agencies entering for the purpose of covering convention or any event in Malaysia
  • participants in sporting events

This pass cannot be used for employment purposes or for supervising the installation of new machinery or the construction of a factory.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A SOCIAL BUSINESS VISIT PASS ?

The Visit Pass (Business) is issued at the point of entry and can be extended upon application by the visitors at the nearest Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Your application for this pass must be submitted with the following supporting document :

  • Valid Passport or recognized travel document
  • Visa, if required
  • Return or onward air ticket
  • Ample funds
  • Returnability to home country is assured
  • Not a prohibited immigrant
  • Supporting document for purpose of visit

No fee is charged for a Visit Pass (Business) issued for a period up to 3 months. A nominal fee is imposed for each month beyond this.

Foreign visitors, except from the Republic of Singapore, who have entered Malaysia on Visit Passes (Tourist or Social) may apply to the Immigration Department of Malaysia for conversion of their passes to Visit Passes (Business). This ruling is designed to assist foreign visitors who wish to undertake business activities in Malaysia.

Application converting Visit Pass (Tourist or Social) ) to Visit Pass (Business) must be submitted to the Immigration Department of Malaysia with a letter of recommendation from Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
