WHAT IS A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT VISIT PASS ?

The Visit Pass (Temporary Employment) is a pass issued to skilled and unskilled foreign workers in Malaysia.

Semi-skilled and unskilled workers are only permitted to work in the following sectors :

  • Plantation
  • Manufacturing
  • Domestic helper

Foreign workers permitted to work in the above sectors in this country are limited to nationals from Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Employer in Sabah is only permitted to employ foreign workers from Indonesia and Philippines. In Federal Territory of Labuan, only foreign workers from Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Bangladesh and Pakistan are permitted to be employed.

Only nationals from Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Cambodia are permitted to be employed as domestic servant.

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT VISIT PASS ?

Only an employer who intends to employ a foreign worker in the approved sectors can submit the application for approval.

HOW CAN A HOLDER OF TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OR PROFESSIONAL VISIT PASS APPLY FOR HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN TO ACCOMPANY AND REMAIN WITH HIM IN MALAYSIA ?

Application for a Visit Pass (Tourist or Social) has to be submitted to Visa, Pass and Permit Division of the Immigration Department of Malaysia through the local sponsor such as the employer together with the application for Visit Pass (Temporary Employment).

Where visa is required, application for Reference Visa must be made prior to entry.

The following supporting document must be submitted with the application :

  • Form IMM. 8 (2 copies)
  • Form IMM. 10 (2 copies)
  • Form IMM. 55 (2 copies)
  • Form IMM. 38 ( 2 copies)
  • 2 photographs measuring 3.5cm x 5.0cm
  • Proof of family relationship
  • 1 photostat copy of Passport or travel document
  • Proof of husband's Visit Pass (Temporary Employment)
