WHAT IS A SPECIAL PASS ?

A Special Pass is issued by the immigration officer to any person if the immigration officer considers the issue of such a pass desirable

  • in order to afford an opportunity of making inquiry for the purpose of determining whether such person is entitled to an Entry Permit or is otherwise entitled to enter West Malaysia, Sabah or Sarawak or whether such person is a prohibited immigrant

  • in order to afford such person a reasonable opportunity of prosecuting an appeal under the Immigration law against any decision of the immigration officer or

  • for any other special reason.
HOW LONG CAN A SPECIAL PASS HOLDER REMAINS IN MALAYSIA ?

A Special Pass entitled the holder to enter West Malaysia, Sabah or Sarawak or remain for a period not exceeding 1 month, as may be stated in the pass.

IS SPECIAL PASS A DOCUMENT OR ENDORSEMENT ?

It can be either one.

A Special Pass can be issued

  • as document in Form 16 of the Second Schedule of Immigration Regulations 1963 or

  • in the form of endorsement on the passport or internal travel document of the application.

It will be determined by the immigration officer.

Where a Special Pass is issued in Form 16, you have to provide the immigration officer with 2 recent passport size photographs of yourself.
