WHAT IS A VISA ?

Visas can be used to describe the application process for foreign nationals who want to come to Malaysia but who must show they qualify for entry before they arrive in the country.

A visa can be shown as granted by way an endorsement on your travel document, usually a passport, and duly endorsed.

A visa is normally valid for 3 months.

You should not be refused entry permission to Malaysia if you have a visa unless there has been a material change of circumstances or you have given false information or you did not disclose important facts when the visa was obtained.

Holders of visas may also be refused

• on medical grounds
• if they have a criminal record
• if they are subject to a deportation order or
• if there are other exceptional reasons why they should not be admitted.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF VISA ISSUED BY THE MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT ?

The Malaysian Government issues the following visas to the foreign nationals :

• Single Entry Visa
  Issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for social or business visit. This visa is normally valid for a period of 3 months from the date of issue.
  
  
• Multiple Entry Visa
  Issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia mainly for business or government to government matters. This visa is normally valid within 3 to 12 months from the date of issue.
  
  
• Transit Visa
  Issued to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia on transit to other countries. Foreign nationals on transit without leaving the airport precincts and who continue their journey to the next destination with the same flight does not require a transit visa.
