HOW DO I APPLY FOR A VISA ?

If you wish to apply for a visa you should fill in the related forms which you can get free of charge from the nearest Malaysian Mission abroad offering an entry clearance service.

Where Malaysian Missions have not been established in your country, your application for a visa can be made at the nearest British High Commission or Consulate or Embassy. They will act on behalf of Malaysia.

You should check with the Malaysian Mission whether or not they are able to process your category of application. If they cannot, they will advise you where to apply.

Your application form must be submitted by hand or by post together with:

  • Form IM. 47 (3 copies)
  • your passport with a validity of at least 6 months
  • 3 passport size photographs
  • return or onward journey travel ticket
  • proof of sufficient funds
  • entry clearance fee which is non-refundable

The documents required vary with the type of visit. You should check with the Malaysian Mission concerned.

The Entry Clearance Officer may then be able to decide your application without further inquiries. However, you may have to attend an interview, and in addition may be asked for further documents.
