CAN I ACQUIRE A FOREIGN CITIZENSHIP YET MAINTAINING MY MALAYSIAN CITIZENSHIP ?If you have acquired by registration, naturalization or other voluntary or formal act, other than marriage, the citizenship of a foreign country, the Federal Government shall by order deprive of your citizenship. If you are a woman who is a citizen by registration because of your marriage to a Malaysian citizen previously and has now acquired the citizenship of another country by marriage to a person who is not a citizen of Malaysia, the Federal Government shall by order deprive of your citizenship. Before making an Order of Deprivation of Citizenship of Malaysia, the Federal Government shall give you a notice of deprivation in writing informing you of the ground on which the order is proposed to be made and of your right to have the case referred to a committee of inquiry within 40 days from the date of service upon you of the notice. The notice of deprivation may be sent to your last known address and where the address at which the notice is sent cannot after reasonable inquiry be ascertained, the notice may be given by publication in the Gazette. I AM A WOMAN MARRIED TO A MALAYSIAN CITIZEN AND THEREAFTER OBTAINED A CERTIFICATE OF CITIZENSHIP. WE ARE DIVORCED AFTER A YEAR. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY MALAYSIAN CITIZENSHIP ?If you are a citizen by registration because of your marriage to a Malaysian citizen and your marriage which was registered has been dissolved, otherwise than by death, within the period of 2 years beginning with the date of the marriage, the Federal Government may by order deprive of your citizenship.
