PROMOTION OF INVESTMENT ACT 1986

Promotion of Investment Act 1986 provides incentives for the following sectors:

Manufacturing
Agriculture
Tourism
Research & Development (R & D)
Technical or Vocational training
Multimedia

Companies intending to undertake activities in these sectors are eligible for the following tax incentives:

Pioneer Status or Investment Tax Allowance (ITA) which is given to companies to undertake the following activities:
promoted products/activities
high tech products/activities
strategic products of national importance including companies given the Multimedia Super Corridor status
research & development (R & D) activities
technical or vocational training activities (ITA) only
activities/products of small scale industries (Pioneer Status only)
intermediate goods of companies participating in an approved programme of industrial linkages.
Double Deduction for Promotion of Export, that is, for expenses incurred by resident companies seeking opportunities for the export of manufactured products and agricultural produce.
Infrastructure Allowance which is available to resident companies engaged in manufacturing, agricultural, hotels, tourist or other industrial/ commercial activity in Sabah, Sarawak and the designated 'Eastern Corridor' of Peninsular Malaysia.
